It is crucial to use MoT registered house bills of lading, failure to comply can lead to legal and financial implications including the risk your shipment is confiscated, arrested, or blocked by the authorities.
MoT registration since February 15th, 2014.
The Chinese Ministry of Transport (MoT) issued new rules and regulations on the registration on NVOCC’s and the creation of house bills of lading when moving shipments from Chinese ports.
NVOCC’s are now required to arrange proper registration, enabling them to negotiate proper rates with cargo owners.
Why MoT registration is necessary?
All NVOCC’s trading to and from the People’s Republic of China are legally required to file their bills of lading with the MoT.
Many wrongfully assume that the registration with the Chinese MoT is only necessary when house bills of lading are issued in the People’s Republic of China. Also note that unregistered NVOCC may implicate their agents who issue the unregistered house bills of lading in China.
