ISF – Importer Security Filing
Importer Security Filing
A new rule was imposed in January 2009, under the name of “Importer Security Filing”. This rule applies to all imported shipments arriving to the United States by sea.
The provided information in the Importer Security Filing makes it easier for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) to identify high-risk shipments, smuggling and to ensure safe and secure cargo.
Failure to comply with the new rule can result in fines, increased inspections upon arrival and delivery delays.
The Importer Security Filing rule states; prior to to cargo arriving in the USA by ocean vessel, the “Importer Security Filing (ISF) Importer,” or their agent (e.g., licensed customs broker), must electronically submit cargo information to the American Customs and Border Protection services in the form of an Importer Security Filing.
AGS Line offers their agents full compliance with the American Importer Security Filing in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection services.
