The Automated Manifest System (AMS), introduced by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is a multi-modular cargo inventory control and release notification system for air, sea and rail carriers. The Automated Manifest System simplifies the entry processing by enabling participants with electronic authorization to move cargo prior to arrival.

The Automated Manifest System or the AMS System was incorporated in the year 2004 and has not only streamlined the marine inventorying aspects, but also made it easier to detect potential security threats.
